Bread toasted on the coals

Ingre­di­ents

Braaibrood (bread toasted on the fire)

2 Slices of bread
Enough cheese to cover a slice of bread
23 thinly sliced pieces tomato
2 thinly sliced pieces of onion
gar­lic to taste
sprin­kling of oreganum

Method

Spread the gar­lic evenly on one of the slices of bread. On top of this place the cheese. Sprin­kle the dried ore­ganum on the cheese. On top of this put the onions and tomato. Cover with the other slice of bread.

Braai slowly over “cool” coals,(but not to cool, as this will dry the bread out) until golden brown. Depend­ing on the heat of the coals, turn regularly.
