If you enjoy the outdoors with a little wine on on the side, then I recommend that you read on. Even if you do not enjoy wine, this extremely informative hike through some of the indigenous veld and extensive vineyards of Mooiplaas Wine Estate gives one great insight into the world of wine making. Tielman, one of the foremost conservationists in the area and owner of the farm bombarded us with facts about the vineyards, wine making and the indigenous veld for a full two and a half hours.

The hike starts at the wine tasting area and leads up to the highest point on the farm where one has 360° sweeping views of the Helderberg , Table Mountain and the Bottelary Region. The walk is not strenuous, although there is one or two “steepish” sections, so it should be in most peoples ability to complete.

The wine tasting and story telling by Tielman afterwards did not disappoint and rounded the day of perfectly.

Mooiplaas also boasts with a horse academy where one can get horse riding lessons. For more information contact the farm, details below. On this farm there is also an extensive mountain bike track, with up to 80 km of riding.
