Uilenkraalsmond, Gansbaai

uilenkraalsmaond

Uilenkraalsmond Restort, 2 and half hours from Cape Town up the South Coast, 10 km from Gansbaai. Two families, camped originally for 5 nights over Easter, but returned a day early due to the rain.

Four tents and a toilet tent with a gazebo! There was loads of space but we were lucky we got an upgrade! When we got there they asked us if we would like to change sites to the AVSV site… this was available. This was AWESOME it was very big and grassy with lots of flat areas to pitch tents without sleeping on rocks or with your head rolling down hill! I walked around the camp and had a good look at all the sites, they are all very nice and grassy, some larger than others but all have an electrical point and well positioned taps.

I would be happy to book any of the following sites: Site map attached:(click on brochure) 122 – These would be first choice! Especially 917  (if I couldn’t get the church site again!) 4552 2635 The others under the trees are very sandy, not as flat and would be nice in the summer but not my first choice: i.e. 101102 etc

We were very impressed with everything right from the start with the booking, they are electronically linked and all the bookings and payments were done via email etc. This always makes things easier. Ablutions were large, clean and we had hot water the entire weekend, well warm during peak hours but warm enough.

NO THORNS!!! Lots of grass I walked from our tent to the ablutions without any shoes!!! Even to the shop which is very well stocked with everything from toilet paper and oil to blitz, wood and even fresh fish and chips! They also have soft serve ice cream! Shop is open every day from 9 am till 9pm.

The beach isn’t far at all, and would be lovely to spend the day there if the weather was warmer, we unfortunately had nice warm weather during the day, but the evenings were cold. There are no braai facilities on the sites; you have to take your own braai. The prices of the camp sites are very reasonable, and booking is essential. The site is safe for the kids to ride their bicycles and walk to the shop etc! There is a putt putt course and a super tube this is charged extra, but reasonable and also safe for the kids to walk to alone. There is a pub literally just outside the gate! Gansbaai, 10 kms away has an awesome Spar and OK and abo
